Volunteering!

Volunteers make our world go round - a sale would not be possible without a lovely big team of volunteers! So why would you give up a Saturday to volunteer for us?

  • Volunteering sellers have to pay less commission
  • Volunteering sellers get to keep their seller number, so any unsold items can go straight back into the next sale
  • Volunteers get free tea, coffee, chocolates and biscuits throughout the day
  • Volunteers have lots of time to browse through items as they sort them
  • Volunteers get to shop an hour before the doors open to the public
  • Volunteers have a great laugh - the atmosphere behind the scenes of a sale is amazing!

Read what some of our volunteers have said- here!

So what's involved?

We need volunteers to help us between the hours of 10 am and 5 pm. They help us place all the rails and table in the venue before the sellers arrive with their items. Our wonderful volunteers then lay out the items in the correct areas in the venue, and make everything look orderly and nicely presented. They break for lunch at around 12 noon, and after that the excitement starts - the volunteer's pre-sale! Up to a whole hour of shopping for what they want.  Once the general public come in, it is all hands on deck.  We have dedicated volunteer roles, e.g. security, refreshments, tills, delabelling stations, reserved items helper etc. We will guide you through every bit of the sale! At times, there does not seem much to do, but when the public has gone, every volunteer helps to sort any unsold items into seller numbers and to dismantle rails, before going home for a well-earned rest.

We are not promising that volunteering with us will be easy - it is at times quite hectic and tiring, but most of all it is great fun and the hours just fly by!

If you have special requirements, e.g. you are pregnant or feeding a tiny baby, or you can't lift anything etc - we have all been there, and if you are good enough to give up your time for us, we will find a role to work around you!
